Terminals are an integral and important part of a developer’s day to day life. Keyboard shortcuts in terminal help you to be fast and productive 🚀

List of Common shortcuts I use

  • Creating new split pane

    • Vertically: ⌘+d

    • Horizontally: ⌘+⌥+d

  • Navigating among tabs

    • ⌘+left arrow or ⌘-{

    • ⌘+right arrow or ⌘-}

  • Navigating directly to a tab

    • ⌘+number

  • Navigating directly to a window

    • ⌘+⌥+number

  • Navigating among split panes

    • ⌘+⌥+Arrow

  • Navigating among split panes in order of use

    • ⌘+] and ⌘+[

  • Delete from the cursor to the start of the line.

    • Ctrl + U

  • Delete from the cursor to the end of the line

    • Ctrl + K

  • Delete from the cursor to the start of the preceding word -

    • Ctrl + W

  • Delete from the cursor to the end of the next word.

    • Alt + D

  • Clear the terminal (Most used 😅)

    • ⌘ + L

  • Search history quickly

    • Ctrl + R
